tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Foundation

Tarte Foundation & Smashbox BrushAutumn / Winter is always my season for breaking into my stash of full coverage foundations and what better of a product to review in the full coverage category of the foundation encyclopaedia than that of the tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Foundation.

I don’t wear this every day, but when I need a little extra help, the coverage is just phenomenal. I’ll let my before and after photos speak for itself (I wear the shade Ivory)! It’s clinically proven to last 12 hours (as the name suggests) and the Amazonian Clay is an active ingredient which works with your skin to make right any wrongs (scars, pigmentation, dark spots etc.). For me with a lot of redness to cover, I like a product that gets it done and this covers and corrects in a couple of brush strokes.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation Before / AfterI apply it with a brush, (the one pictured is from Smashbox) as I do find that you have to work quite quickly to move the formula about. If you do try this foundation you might want to prepare yourself for a foundation that’s perhaps thicker in it’s consistency than most from the tube. But DO NOT panic! On your skin it’s weightless.

If you don’t need the coverage just plop this on where needed and blend out, it’ll still be your friend. If you do want a good cover up though you can layer this up like a dream, 2 Layers and you're done. It comes with an SPF of 15 included, but excludes the following; Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs and Triclosan from it’s formula.

Pretty impressive! Fresh from the tube: Amazonian Clay

In summary, it is a bit of a negative that you can’t get this too easily in the UK, it retails in most places for $38 / £23 (rough conversion). If in need you can stock up from the following places QVC UK, Sephora (ships from the US) or eBay / Amazon UK. It achieves on all levels but is primarily great for it’s coverage and staying power. If you have scars, acne, perhaps ingredient irritated skin or redness like myself then this could be your new holy grail!
